I would definitely recommend Cross Country K9 training to any and every dog owner. I have an aggressive 3 year old pittie, female, rescue. She loves people and hates all other animals. I didn't realize she was so bad until I moved, 3 months ago. At first I thought she was just adjusting to the new area. She was the terror of this town!! She attacked 4 dogs within the first month. Sent 3 to the vet, whom all called animal control, which they should have.
There was nowhere I could walk her without meeting another dog. And I just couldn't not walk her, she is so loving to me and other people, that big ole pittie smile. She also had to run up to everybody and lick them, which was embarrassing! Pat just moved to this area, thank goodness!! So, we started working on layers of conditioning to help me and my dog know who is really the boss. ( and its not her) This is week 4, I think and what a difference its made!!
Now I can actually walk her, not the other way around! Before, she was just so focused on every scent out there, and if she saw a squirrel, watch out! And she doesn't run up to every stranger now, thank goodness. She is still a little reactive around some dogs, but can ignore most, big improvement!
Pat knows his animals, he is a hands on trainer, i.e. he will text, ask how I'm doing, any questions, and pop over for a few to see how I caught on to all the instructions. ( my command voice was not stern enough)

I would highly recommend Mr. Felton. Mr.Felton had patience, compassion and extensive knowledge in ways to explain things to the owner and finding the right path for each dog. It was easy because he gave us step by step building blocks to progress in our training while at home. I was amazed how much it helped the owner and dog to be better attached. We recently had the pleasure of having Pat Felton assist us with the training of our two unruly rescue pups (Bailey and Sophie). While Sophie is friendly and outgoing, Bailey is her polar opposite....quiet and introverted. Pat knew how to guide us on these extreme personality differences and we had both dogs working toward obedience in no time. Pat was incredibly easy to work with and gave us clear/concise instruction. Pat did a wonderful job with snake training for our pup. It only took a few minutes working with her. What one doesn't see is the 90 minutes of preparation and the "take-down" after. It may seem like a lot of money but we both feel it was worth every penny! If your dog might be walking on a trail (or off) anywhere in Colorado, this could well be your pet's life-saver.

We are so grateful to have found Pat! We have a 7 year old Staffordshire/Pittie with dog reactivity, and recently moved across country from NJ to CO, so finding the right person to help us was of high importance. We have worked with multiple trainers over the course of the years, and still found ourselves struggling to handle his reactivity, especially on leash.
Pat spent time meeting with us and getting to know us and our pup, and was fully confident in his ability to walk him and manage his reactions and even said he would work with us to help begin to lessen them over time. He takes an individualized approach to each dog he meets. He is compassionate, consistent and patient -- and right away, he developed a relationship with our dog and understood exactly how to handle his energy and provide him with the direction he needs. Patrick is an excellent trainer. He started working with us about 3 weeks ago. my dog is very large, English mastiff/Alaskan malamute. needless to say, but she was hard to control, negatively alpha with quite the temperament. now we are in the middle of her obedience training and already she is a happier, well behaved, lovable pup. not only did we need the help controlling, she needed the leadership. thank you Patrick, you likely saved us! highly recommend!!!

I knew when my wife and I decided to welcome a dog into our home, we were welcoming a pit bull into our family. When we met Boejn, we immediately fell in love with our muscle-bound lap cuddler. We also immediately had our hands full with an 11-month old who’s sense of direction could best be described as an erratic toddler that lacked any understanding of bedside manner. We needed help and we needed it from someone who wasn’t afraid of working with our lovable Neanderthal. Pat’s approach to helping us train Boejn began with helping us build a relationship with Boejn.
Pat provided us all with a safe space to first listen to each other, then he laid out the foundation for obedience and structure. He stressed consistency, positive rewards for good behavior, and clear, consistent, fair guidance and corrections when necessary. Pat encouraged us to build on our successes and never pushed for results. This journey would happen in its own time. We’ve been with Pat since June 2018, and all three of us have regressed some weeks, but Pat has consistently been available to answer all of our questions and shown us nothing but the kindest patience, far after our own had expired.
Dog training isn't about tricks. It's about developing a relationship of trust, respect, and love with your furry friend. The lessons didn't end when we completed the 6-week course. Although the improvement in our dog's behavior, and our own, was significant, we chose to continue regular meetings with Pat. We now take walks together throughout our neighborhood without the enthusiasm of a dog sled team, we confidently meet other people and dogs, and, what we’re most proud of, have learned to sit and stay for over five minutes, even when distracted.
We didn’t realize how little we knew when we signed up with Pat, but Pat has been nothing but patient, kind, and an absolute game-changer to our development with Boejn. Pat worked wonders on my fear aggressive Boston terrier, Champ. Before I met Pat I’ve tried 2 other dog trainers and had seen almost zero improvements. Champ came from a rough background and struggled to trust most people and almost all dogs. His first mode is to attack any other dogs he comes into contact with. Because of that, Going on walks was so stressful.
He was on high alert would pay absolutely no attention to me. The leash was Always tight and he was constantly pulling or stopping when he wasn’t supposed to. After our first session Champ was able to walk much slower and didn’t pull so much. After a few sessions champ was able to listen to me and he even laid down in the grass at one point!- that is such a massive mile marker for champ! He’s never been able to relax on a walk before that.
I’ve also seen champ listening and relaxing in so many other ways beyond going on walks. His separation anxiety has improved and he listens a lot better at home. He has even come into contact with other dogs and acted calm instead of trying to attack.
I couldn’t be more grateful for Pat. He’s made a huge difference for champ and I in such a short time. I would highly recommend him to an one with a reactive dog!

We are very with who we have handling out dog, as we have worked with multiple trainers over the course of the years, and still find ourselves struggling to handle his reactivity, especially on leash. I met with multiple people over the course of our first few month here, but none of them felt right until we met Pat. He totally got us and understood the quality of care that we needed for our dog.
In our first meeting, he was fully confident in his ability to walk him and manage his reactions and even said he would work with us to help begin to lessen them over time. He developed a relationship right away with our dog and understood exactly how to handle his energy and provide him with the direction he needs. He is compassionate, patient and consistent - our dog responded so well to him and right away, we were incredibly comfortable with his handling skills and understanding of dog psychology. Pat is timely, reliable, knowledgeable, friendly, and fully capable of handling our strong and stubborn pup.
Most of all - he loves our dog like his own, and this means everything to us. We use him for both walking and house/pet sitting, as well as some training, and cannot say enough wonderful things about the incredible care and support that he consistently provides.
